| Our highest pitched piccolo produces clean crisp sounds sweeter and mellower than the silver piccolo. The piccolo is great for small hands, for the fingering holes are placed closer together than on our other flutes. The piccolo, being a higher pitched instrument, requires a tighter embouchure and is slightly more difficult to play than the larger D and G flutes. The D Piccolo is also good choice for irish music for the fingering is very close to penny whistle fingering. This beautiful flute is handmade by flute maker James Hall. It is made from Pyrex® glass. The decoration is hand silk screened and kiln fired at 1050°F to permanently fuse the decoration to the glass. It has a beautiful tone and a musical range of 2 1/2 octaves and is about 11 inches long.
